This is disconcerting to me because I value sleep and its
importance to the health and well-being of the body. So usually when this
happens, I panic and start on this train of thought: “Go back to sleep! You have to get 7-8 hours
of sleep! Sleep is important! This is not good!” Ironically, or maybe not, this usually makes
the situation worse. I’m resistant and
fighting what’s happening. What you focus your energy on you usually get more
of.
So the other night I decided to embrace what was happening
instead of fighting it. Instead I thought: “Okay,
I’m awake right now. Why? What do I need to do to fall back to sleep?” I
was back to sleep in minutes. By letting go of my need to control the situation
I was better able to control the situation.
Is there something in your life that you are resisting and
its preventing you from getting what you really want?
